Bagerhat police on high alert over arms infiltration

UNB, BAGERHAT

Feb 8: Police in midnight raids arrested over a hundred people Monday night on intelligence tip-off that a huge consignment of arms and explosives made their way into the district for subversion.

When contacted, Police Super M Mahbub Alam said 127 people were picked up from Fakirahat and Mollahat upazilas in a manhunt after receiving information from the Detective Branch of police about the arms infiltration.

After interrogation, all but 16 of the arrested people were set free today (Tuesday). Six of the suspects are from Fakirhat and 10 from Mollahat.
